The Vancouver Sun in conjunction with the B.C. Real Estate Association released sales figures this week, which revealed some interesting trends in the Vancouver real estate market:

-Realtors cleared 8,624 sales through the Multiple Listing Service in October, up 115 per cent from the same month a year ago
-3,767 sales in what is primarily Metro Vancouver, represented a 171-per-cent increase from October 2008

It's evident that metro Vancouver including the Fraser Valley and surrounding areas are the predominant drivers in the recent real estate renaissance.

-B.C.’s interior markets rely heavily on the activity of recreational-property purchasers, most of whom stayed out of the market during last winter’s collapse in sales and have yet to return.
-In Kamloops, for instance, October’s average home price of $297,673 was still almost three per cent below the average in the same mont a year ago.
